PRP

PRP stands for platelet-rich plasma. It uses a small sample of your own blood, which is processed to separate and concentrate the platelets. The prepared plasma is then used in the agreed treatment area. Platelets are involved in the body’s repair processes, but this does not mean cosmetic results are certain.

WHAT MIGHT PRP HELP WITH?
PRP may be discussed as an option for selected skin-quality concerns. Research into facial rejuvenation remains limited, and techniques vary. It should not be presented as a guaranteed lift, a replacement for every other treatment or a way to stop ageing.

YOUR ASSESSMENT
We will discuss the change you are hoping for, your skin and previous treatments. Your health, medicines and any blood-related conditions are important to suitability. Bring an up-to-date medication list and explain any history of unusual bleeding, bruising or problems with blood tests. Do not change prescribed medication yourself.

WHAT HAPPENS AT THE APPOINTMENT?
After assessment and consent, a blood sample is taken and processed in a centrifuge. The proposed method of applying or injecting the prepared plasma will be explained beforehand. You can ask about the equipment, hygiene precautions, comfort measures and how your own sample is handled.

RECOVERY AND RISKS
Discomfort, swelling and bruising can occur at the blood-draw or treatment sites. Infection is a potential risk, making careful handling and sterile technique important. Using your own blood does not make the procedure risk-free. Follow the aftercare instructions for the method used and contact the clinic if symptoms are unexpected or worsening.

RESULTS AND REVIEW
Any change is expected to develop gradually rather than being assessed immediately. Results vary, and some people may see little benefit. Discuss the proposed number of sessions, the evidence for your concern and when progress will be reviewed before committing to a course.

COMMON QUESTIONS
Is PRP a filler? No; it is prepared from your blood and is not a dermal filler gel.
Is it suitable for everyone? No. Your medical history and the concern being treated need assessment.
Must I have a course? You should understand the rationale, likely benefit and total cost before deciding.
